Hello everyone, I am a 24 year old male in the U.S. Army. I was wondering if this would have a negative impact on wanting to meet a Russian woman? I wasn't really around for all the cold war stuff but after reading through some of the introductory posts on this forum I have noticed over and over the mention that Russian women have a strong sense of pride in their nation. I am not sure what, if any, negative stigmas this might apply to me in their eyes?
Also I am wondering if these women are very picky about what level of income you bring to the table? Currently at my rank in the Army I am pulling about 50k/year when you take into account the housing and food allowances granted to soldiers. However I am planning on finishing my BSN degree when I get out of the Army in 2 years to become a Registered Nurse at which point I think I can expect to make 60K+/year without much trouble. During the time I will be going back to school I will have the GI Bill benefits from my service which will provide me with tuition for school and a 1100/month housing allowance so I would obviously have to pick up something on the side to take care of food/entertainment/etc...I don't really know what sort of economic conditions women in Russia are used to and what the difference in buying power is in America vs. Russia based on the America.
Also I am currently on deployment in Iraq so the soonest I would be able to make a trip to Russia to actually meet someone in person would be around 8 months from now when my deployment is over...is this too long a time to keep them interested in me without actually being able to demonstrate a real commitment outside of emails/IM conversations?
Thanks a ton for any answers you guys can provide me. I'm just getting started reading the posts on this forum and after an hour or so of reading I feel I have barely nicked the surface of the information here, but I've had these questions burning on my mind and wanted to get answers as soon as possible!
